Platform strap

So I made a platform using my old lone wolf seat. I went this route because all I had to order was a piece of aluminum and an extra batwing bracket. I may end up selling the stand after the season and getting a predator but this was the easiest way for me to try out a platform. So far I really like it but not sure about the best strap to use for it.

I tried rope and was able to get it to cam over by wrapping the rope through the stand over a piece of the cast aluminum and back to the rope and tied it off using a half hitch with a bite. This way is light and has no metal but a pain to adjust.

The other way I did which is easier to adjust but has metal pieces is to take my lone wolf strap and took it from one side of the platform around the tree and used a biner to hook back into a smaller loop from a sacrificed lone wolf strap. My concern with this is how much force the camming effect will have on the biner. I assume it will be fine and I’m tied off to my saddle anyway.

Just looking for your thoughts as to the best way to tie off since the lone wolf seat doesn’t have the little tabs sticking off like the XOP seat does and couldn’t find a thread for the lone wolf seat.

I would do the same with the XOP seat because the tabs break off. I use a Lone Wolf strap on one of my scooter platforms with a short dyneema runner and carabiner. On my other scooter platform I use an XOP strap along with a short runner and carabiner. Both straps are working without issue right now and I don't think the carabiner is the weak link. The stress on the strap might be the weak link. Just keep an eye on it and inspect it regularly.

Awesome. Thanks. I’ll continue to run it that way then.
