Pursuit Platform Gen 2 questions

I've Been using a gen1 for 2 seasons now with no issues. I’m 185 and have had no flex issues with mine at all. I do also have a gen2 but I haven’t seen the need to break it out yet. With the OCB strap it locks down super tight. I put some vet wrap in mine and hockey tape and haven’t had any squeaking issues. I used mine most every saddle outing throughout the last two seasons. I throw mine in my pack to carry it in.

Has anyone tried a ratchet strap with the V2? I keep hearing the OCB is super tight but having used an OCB with my Scout Solo I know there is a little bit of give, especially when you add some ROS, and I prefer the solidity a ratchet gives. But I wonder if this plastic material can withstand the increased tightness of a ratchet?

I'm still working on my carry sack for transport. The zip ties work really really good and that issue is solved. I was thinking about painting it but I'm not even gonna worry about it. I can throw it in the mud a couple times and it'll blend right in. It's not a soft pillow like my last platform but it's the closest thing and I'm happy with it. Hopefully it stands up to hard use. The pillow is officially retired since I stole the attachment strap off it for the pursuit... Pursuit is my dedicated platform now. We'll see how she holds up
We hunt in very different weather zones, but I can say I hunted a lot last year and only used the Pursuit. Held up great and was super comfortable.

I think I'm done now.....stealth strip where I may knock the buckle and I was getting a little annoyed with the strap slipping thru so I took some of that rubber coated wire and fished it down thru 1 of the holes to capture the strap. Now it won't just slid thru and fallScreenshot_20240508-170835~2.pngScreenshot_20240508-170821~2.pngScreenshot_20240508-170809~2.png

I’ve never been able to get an OCB be nearly as tight as a ratchet strap on my v2, especially when you get your weight on it. Ratchet is the only way I’ll go with it for sure. Also necking the strap up on the top curve of the opening really helps keep it tight.

Once I get the ratchet all the way tight, I do notice that the platform slightly bows under the pressure. But it does not seem to mess with the integrity what so ever and bounces right back once it’s taken off the tree.

Yeah I wondered if that would happen, thanks for the input. Maybe it’s elastic enough it doesn’t matter. Makes me wonder if repeated stress like that with a ratchet will be detrimental. I presume the same thing is happening to a lesser degree with an OCB though, just harder to observe maybe.

Sure thing. Yeah might be happening in both cases. I feel like you’ll get tired of the platform and move on to something else long before you would ever see a failure in the platform that is caused by the strap.
