To those of you who own and use the Aero Hunter,
1-Do you "use" the leg straps or just adjust them loose?
I have read a few who say they just run them loose and wonder if they are really an important element of the system,it seems the saddle portion would provide most of the support.
2-Could you just use mount hole at the rigging plate as a connection for the lineman's belt, thereby simplifying
the rigging?
Just trying to make a purchase decision, and trying to stall myself until the new model is released!

1 - Mine are adjusted fairly loose. They tend to bind/constrict around the thighs when they are too tight. Also might give the ol' family jewels bit of a squeeze too... They are still under tension when you are at hunting height and strapped in, so they do help distribute load across the saddle, but tighter is defo more uncomfortable for me.

2 - You could, but it might compromise safety in other ways. I think the idea is that you want your linemans belt on a seperate web rigging is to have multiple fail safes in the setup. Plus if I remember correctly all of the 'paws' have all of their ports utilized already, so you may run into issues trying to run multiple sets of rope through the them.

1. The leg straps are just there to make sure that for some reason you don't slip out the bottom of the saddle. So mine are adjust loose.
2. You could, but it offers a few problems. For a linemans belt it is best to have the weight pulled off the point of you hips, the pressure is felt better this way. It also spit up the connection points, by having your bridge and linemans belt connect to different parts of the saddle it helps prevent confusion as to what your are hooking up and what your unhooking. It also keeps them from being tangled and twisted.

Thanks,

Yup,that all makes sense...and that's why I asked guys who have spent time in one!
Thanks for the information!
Now,question about the new version of the Aero Hunter......I saw the version at the ATA this year without the "paws"..and have read it will have leg straps that attach with some type of buckle,I assume that is to make it easier to put on,is there any other benefit from it?
Any other changes?
Should I wait?
Should I but the current Version?
I hate waiting.....but don't want to regret not waiting....
I am so confused,,,,:(

The new model will have some type of QR buckles. They only advantage to them is there is no need to fish your boots through the leg straps, this helps in the dark or with mud on your boots.
Changes, yes.
Should you wait? That is up to you,
We are hoping to release it the June/July time frame.

Thanks,
Boswell

That being said.... if you wait you will probably be able to find a size 2 aerohunter in the classifieds at a discount when the new one comes out. Just saying :)

The current aerohunter is awesome , you just need to spend time with it to get comfy. I have found that unrouting the leg straps from the paws and just running the strap over your leg to form a loop totally eliminates crotch discomfort. Same safety as far as I can tell as it mimics the leg loops of a rock harness. Either way you go , old version or new you will be glad you did !

Up to you to wait, but I definitely use my leg straps.. without that it's not a safety harness. Im happy with mine the way it is.

Whether you choose to wait or go with the current model, I recommend the Aero Hunter Evo. It takes a few sits to get it dialed in, but once you find the sweet spot, it comfortable for all day sits.

^^ this.

I use the aero just as it was made. I don't have any reason not to... it's insanely comfortable and safe just the way it comes from aero. I don't see any reason to mess with it.

I find that VERY slight weight distribution can make a big difference. Just a little weight in the legs straps is good for me. I will even sometimes rig up a back support. Again, just a little load distribution

I would agree with that .... even weight distribution is critical for maximum comfort

I'm a new user and still figuring things out but can't for the life of me make the leg straps comfortable. I have to loosen them. Even if I put a little pressure on them it's all good until I have to twist and face away from the tree. I've noticed having the straps tights adds a lot of support when sitting but as soon as I stand up like that it's just way too much pressure there for my liking. I'm thinking of re-routing mine as mentioned so the strap just goes around my leg instead of through the paws. It won't really help as far as support but still serves the function of not letting you fall through.

Try loosening them to wear they basically just hang there while standing upright. I had same issue... too tight on the leg straps and it would be very uncomfortable on the thighs and crotch.

Its worth a try but I found out in the tree I felt like I was sliding out of the aerohunter even though the leg straps still have you secured. You really have to play with the side adjustment buckle to get your butt to sit correctly in it. Also changing which hole your bridge goes through helps as well... you will dial it in , these saddles are awesome. Good luck !

A couple of thoughts:

Trying adjusting the strap that goes under your butt. This will take some pressure off the leg straps and may help. It is all about finding a balance between all of the adjustments, this is why the aero hunter is so good because you are able to adjust it.

You may be sitting down too far in it. Try shortening up your tether (not the height on the tree, but just your actual attachment point to the tether) so that you are sitting a little higher. I like to sit with my thighs a little bit above horizontal.

ADP which hole did you move your bridge to? I've gotten it a lot better by starting with everything adjusted as far out as I can and went from there. This kept the paws away from my body more so now the leg straps don't pull towards my body as much. It helped me a lot and made them bearable, but I see myself leaning a lot and loosening the the legs.

Hi Ben ,
I did not like the adjustable bridge because you can slide left or right quite a bit so I removed the prussic knot on the bridge made the bridge fixed and tied a loop at the end of the bridge. I then found for me using the top hole( the one closest to you while wearing the saddle ) took some pressure off of my back and I think for short hunts I can get away without back support. The side adjustment buckles ,the main ( wide) waist strap and the buckles on the back are as short (tight) as they will go but that is what fits my body type , im 6' 180 with a 32" waist. The side adjustment straps are through the second hole and the leg straps through the third hole. The leg straps I keep large enough to easily put my hunting boots through. Also when you try different settings try and sit in the saddle for 10 mins , I find my body settles into the saddle and I get more comfortable. I hope this helps !
