So after deciding I won't be able to use spikes in my state. I still would benefit from rappelling down after climbing with my platform. I have never rappelled and have no idea what to buy. Can somebody give me an exact list of everything I need to purchase including rope and length?

How are you planning on going up? SRT? If so, grab an ATC or GriGri2 as your belay device and a rock climbing harness. Simply attach it when your ready to drop and off you go. Then you need a plan for getting your rope free.

I hunt out of a Aero hunter and have the xop seat as my platform. I have climbed several trees using the platform and saddle to get up and down. Going up is fine coming down is way to slow.

You'll want an easy autoblock so you can hang safely while you tear down

I really like my grigri2, auto stop and controlled descent. I had very little experience before getting involved with saddle hunting and it seemed like a logical choice. You can also use a prusik instead of an auto block.

Rope- Sterling htp 9-11mm around 50 feet is plenty.
Descender- Grigri2 or plus
50 feet of paracord and a certified delta or screw link

And are you using the GriGri like a Ropeman? That justifies the weight and expense...no switch over.
