Repurposing old stand?

I have this old aluminum climber and I'm just getting into saddle hunting (pulic land).

These 'teeth' are just bolted on. If I were to remove them, would it make a decent platform for me to 'cut my teeth' on?

Obviously they're a part of the stand for a reason. I'm banking on them being only used when going up and down and not when it's in place. I can picture me up in a tree and as soon as I step off, it falls to the ground.

Anyone know? I'd give it a shot, but it's a cold and rainy day here.

Definitely post pictures.

My guess is the teeth will be just as necessary.

had a stand similar to this and took 1 trip too many down a tree while trimming shooting lanes. left the damn thing in the woods and went home to get my hand stitched up, its still there 18 years later. as long as you strap this to the tree so it won't unload and slide down you'd be fine, I wouldn't use it without a strap

That was my very first deer stand...

Swapped in lone wolf belts. I was a crafty young lad. I don’t know how I didn’t die...

Don’t get rid of those teeth, you can use them for some kind of project. As for the stand being used as a platform, go to town.
