Last winter I started scouting a 1000 acre river bottom. It’s only open to archery and black powder. It gets a lot of pressure from waterfowl and dove hunters but I don’t think much deer pressure. It has food plots all over but swamps throughout. I didn’t find much for rut sign but I found some of the biggest tracks I’ve ever seen. The good part is there’s only a handful of spots where you can hang a stand and sure enough that’s where I found quite a few treestands. I located quite a few beds and big tracks leaving them, none of which were close to the treestands. I revisited the area today and marked a few spots that I can hunt from a saddle or the ground. I also cut the big tracks again in the same area as last winter. I’m planning on hunting this spot before or after work.
