I plan to set up a rock climbing harness and sew my own saddle. Looking for recommendations and links. I was thinking of using the alpine bod. Lightweight is my priority.

I'm thinking of doing the same. What material did you plan to make the seat out of?

I have some real heavy mesh kind of like they have on the mantis. Or i might make out of cordura or something not quite sure yet. What rock climbing harness are you going with?

I have a Mammut Zephir. I think it is pretty comfortable for rock climbing so it should translate to a saddle well...but I could be wrong

Misty Mountain Gym Dandy or Black Diamond Couloir.
Couloir is slightly lighter, but the waist buckle is more difficult to use in cold weather.

You can safely run tubular webbing on both for linemans belts.

Search for Gym Dandy and find my posts. You’ll see how I run a LB.

Misty mountain cadilac I hear is very comfortable. They will custom sew in rings for a linemans belt. You will pay a reasonable fee for adding the rings $30 but you will pay their cost for the harness which is another $30 over what you can find them for. The help with sizing and service (spoke directly with the owner) was worth it for me. I decided to go this route for various reasons. Should be here next week so can't comment on how it works out yet.

How did you make out with the Misty Moutain Cadilac??

Sorry just seeing this. It worked out great. Took awhile to get but it's high quality. If I had it to do over I would probably go with a mantis or aero for basically the same price. The harness is a little difficult to deal with over hunting clothes and is one more piece of equipment since you have to use the sit drag also. But for hanging stands it will be great. The lineman rings they sewed in are NICE.
