roll n lock looks like another option

I have one and have been using it for a year or so. It works. I don't like it as much as I thought I would. I don't like it as much as Ropeman for the tether or lineman belt.
But it can double as a pulley because you can lock it open. But it's closed on me when i wanted it to remain open . I'm not knocking it, it's good quality and i don't think it'll fall, i just don't like it as much. So if you might need a pulley then you might like it. It's a good piece of equipment, but it's heavier and larger and not as good for my purposes as the Ropeman or duck. If I used a pulley more often then I think it would come to the woods more often.

Good info. I just got my duck today and a ropeman 1 on the way. I mistakenly ordered a 2 which im trying to sell now

I love my duck. If you look at the instructions there is a way to use it as a locking pulley. I have been playing around with using it like that for SRT instead of the grigri. Then when I get to hunting height, it becomes my tether. In order for it top work like that though I run the rope back up to my hand ascender and through a small carabiner then down. When I stand up I pull on the tail, and the hand ascender and the duck automatically advances.

Yeah. I use my Ropeman or duck while ascending and only attach the grigri when I get ready to come down. I tried to climb similar to the way you described with pulley (that's why I originally bought the Roll N Lock) but I didn't feel as good about that method. Instead I use a Petzl hand ascnder with a Petzl pantin foot ascender and just attach my Ropeman to my bridge (which I pull in tight to shorten while climbing) when I rope ascend. I have to say that' it's just my opinion , but this way is second to my spurs as easy quiet and quick.
