As a newbie, this may be a dumb question but I have just ordered 20' of Samson 11mm predator rope, can I use a 8mm kernmantel rope for my prusik? Is there a real difference in Kernmantel rope and double braided rope?
 
Some Kernmantle rope will work. It’s best to use a rope that is reccomended for your use. I like Yale bee line. There are many other prusik cords available and I wouldn’t rule out presewn loops or a ropeman either.
 
thanks for reply, I'm ordering 2 ropeman 1 ascender seems to be what everyone else suggests on other threads.
