Sorry for the delayed response as im still hunting and trying to keep up with the business at home. I hunt with a John Eberhart Anderson sling, LW sticks and got him with a 30-06 at about 50-60yds on private. Im hunting S.W. GA.
The piece I hunt got hit pretty hard by the last hurricane and the landscape changed pretty dramatically and so did the deer's travel. A few weeks ago we got some pretty steady rain for about three days straight so I drove the 5hrs to get here and scouted non stop in the rain. Been a long time since I've been that wet for that long! In the course of scouting I found some really big rubs that had opened up and some beds that were being used about 75 yds from a food sources (pecan orchard). The beds were just on the edge of dry ground with a big swamp in front and the orchard behind them. Some other guys had been hunting the actual orchard itself so I had to wait until they moved out before I could hunt it. I then waited till it was good and light so that the deer wouldnt be in the orchard and moved through the orchard to the woods between the beds and the orchard. I was set up about 45 minutes and he came from the orchards behind me headed directly towards the beds and I shot him. I think it came down to getting between the beds and the food source at the right time and approaching the area at the right time. Thanks again for the posts!

Nice, Im hunting some public in south west GA and dealing with the blow down has been a challenge. The woods are wrecked. Finally found buck sign on friday but it was deep in the swamp and I busted him right after finding his scrape. Hopefully I can find some beds or a defined food source. Seems that there arent any defined trails or patterns because of the chaos after the storm. Awesome buck and thanks for sharing!

He wasnt actually with a doe which was surprising. However, I think he had been out all night making a loop and checking them. I just caught him on his way back to bed.

That last post was in response to G2's question.
