Any recommendations for clothing systems with the saddle specifically?

Are there any issues with jackets riding up or pants slipping down due to placement of the saddle?

Would a guy be better off with bibs?

Jackets do ride up some. I have never worn bibs, but it might be a good solution.

I thought it would be more of an issue for me but it really wasn't for me. My jackets I just pulled down over the top of the saddle. Never had an issue with pants riding down or my ass getting cold and hunted from the mesh kite down to 20 degrees.

One issue is in the sitting position the bridge kinda blocks access to jacket pockets. I am a light gloves, hands in pockets kinda guy. I have a hand muff tied to my bridge that remedies that.

I wear first light merino wool pants with suspenders and shirts/jackets. No ride up issues here. Once again, I push both straps under my arse when I get set up. If the two straps are spread out (one strap under legs and one strap in small of back) they will tend to push shirts/jackets up IME.

the first lite vest pockets are perfect to get hands into under the bridge. I get an XL so I can layer it over other clothing.

I use a kestrel and wear both pants and jacket and coveralls never tried bibs and jacket in the coveralls it's definitely more comfortable but the jacket and pants are not as bad as what I thought it would be regardless it seems you always have problems getting into your pockets tried doing a fanny pack didn't work out the way I thought it would and ended up going back to a small backpack for all my gear

I was just thinking about this the other day when it was sub 20 degrees in the morning and my jacket was bunching up. Its more of a parka and that's the issue. I happen to be associated with an upstart hunting clothing company so the wheels started spinning. What if the parka had a slit on the sides with a snap or two at the bottom that allowed you to pull the parka down and allow the bridge to come through. Then you could snap it shut below the loops. Need to send a jacket to @ckossuth so he can fix it up for me to beta test :)

When I wear bibs I usually have to let the Kestrel belt out a bit. Then I put the Kestrel on over the bibs and jacket, and after securing belt I untuck the jacket in the front. This allows access to jacket pockets around outside of bridge.

I wear a bib late from mid to late season. Or rather I would if I could get back out. Bib or no bib I have not had an issue with my jacket riding up. I dont mind the extra layet on the walk in it tskes s bit before I sweat and I can head in with it unzipped. If you are a heavy sweater might be something to think about.

I do the same as @sureshotscott .

Those of you without a problem with the jacket riding up, are you putting your saddle on over your jacket? Or are you just wearing normal jacket and not a parka which tends to be longer? I don't think I could stand having my saddle on the outside of my jacket (might not even fit).

I have just used jackets like fleeces outside the saddle. So perhaps the saddle sits low enough it doesn't cause an issue. Or because I have a bib on i don't notice and it is riding up a bit. Not sure.

1st year in the saddle, I wear a Sitka Fanatic vest and was initially bummed that the hand warmer pocket was closed by my Bridge. But after a couple sits, I ran the belt into the hand warmer pocket, and loosened it up a bit. Worked perfectly. Top layers never came untucked once afterwards.

Even a two way zipper ...good idea

I've seen you mention this several times @DaveT1963 (which is a good thing) since you seem to use saddles in a slightly unorthodox manner but wouldn't you like to find a saddle that is comfortable on you when worn in the manner in which it was designed? I'm guessing that you've either given up hope or are just perfectly content being a sitdrag type of guy for life! :)

It was 23 degrees this morning. I wore thermal baselayers (Carhart I think) and fleece lined pants. Thermal socks and a Hot Hands hand warmer in each pocket. I’m asking for a merino base layer top for Christmas. In the mean time I wear two cheap long sleeve shirts to the stand. When I climb up in I hoist up my big puffy jacket and bow all at once.

I didn’t get too cold at all today. Pants bunches up a little bit I think that had more to do with a leaning tree and me not getting a good cup in my Kestrel. Coffee helps warm the innards.

It seems to work for me alright ;)
