"I can’t tell you how awesome it is to get to a hunting spot 4.5 miles back and not be tired and sweaty." That is my main reason. I don't mind the long hike into an area. The issue is the time getting there and then the cool down time. I already drive about 1.5hrs - 2hrs to National Forests and Refuges. Then if you add hiking time and then cool down time. Your looking at another hour. So, if I am looking at reducing that time frame any way I can.
Okay, here are a few more questions. Did you already own the fat tire bike and get the conversion kit or buy the bike already with the electric assist? If you bought the conversion kit. Why did you go with the motor at the pedal instead of the tire? Guessing it was not to difficult of an installation?
Told you I have a ton of questions and thanks for the info/ feedback. Hope you will continue updating throughout the season. Really looking forward to hearing your reviews.
This is the Rambo r750 G3. It uses the same mid drive kit you can by from Luna Cycle to retro fit an existing bike. The kits are not that hard to do. There’s lots of videos on YouTube. I like mid drives because of the balance and the hill climbing torque they provide over a rear hub unit. Also this allows you to install an internal geared rear hub (IGH). The Rambo G3 comes with a 3 speed IGH and a 32 tooth front chainring. The smaller the chainring, the mores hill climbing power you will have. The IGH only has one chainring since all of the gears are inside the rear hub. This minimizes a ton of external parts and the need for a derailer. You also get perfect chain alignment between the front and rear chainrings.
