Has anyone ever used or considered using the seatbelt webbing out of a junked car? Thoughts or concerns?

Just buy it new. It is inexpensive. But if you just have easy access to it in a junker, it will certainly work as long as its not super old and sun rotted. But i mean its literally $5-15 on ebay depending on how much you get.

I agree its inexpensive @LeanMachine. I live near a huge junk yard and re-purposing material excites me for some strange reason. I would certainly stick to the "healthier" seatbelts.

I feel ya. I like repurposing and saving money as well.

I think the cons outweigh the benefits..
You can almost guarantee that vehicle your salvaging it from was driven by fat bastard and is saturated in years of sweat, grime, mold and cheeseburger juice.
Sure it's free and it can be cleaned but It's really cheap from strapworks and time your time is valuable!

I just picked up 20 yds of 2 inch seat belt webbing for $26 shipped off etsy. If using for life support, I would urge new. Problem with salvage yard seatbelts is you don't know what they've been thru. Have they degraded at all? Have they received shock load causing microscopic tears?

To me, the price of new is worth it to know the strap is at 100% strength.
