Waiting on the mantis decided to order up materials to make a sit drag style saddle. Ran out to joann fabric and used a 55% off acmoore discount to get the speedy stitcher.

Put in a few hours on the speedy stitch. Full belt and a full ring of moly loops. Two mil spec dump bags. Waiting on 1/4 amsteel for the bridge. Following gregs g2outdoors style. Fun project so far looking forward to having this and the mantis to potentially introduce others to saddle hunting after i figure it out.

Looks nice. What buckle is that? Did you order it? My cheap buckle cane undone on the way down the tree the other night and my sit drag, dump pouch, and predator platform were hanging around my legs by the bridge. Looking like an upgrade might be needed.

Look for a cobra buckle, mine works great!

Nice job on the conversion!

Got a chance to try out the saddle this morning even put my son in it. He loves it and i share his feelings. Will need to play around with bridge length and tether height. So far for me this is a very comfortable setup. Going to set a few more steps later this evening and try my bow from the saddle.

What thread did you use and did you get it from JoAnns as well?

I used the thread that came with the speedy stitcher, none of my stitching will be load bearing. The belt is to keep the saddle around my waist and the moly loops are holding very light amounts of gear.

Testing out the diy sit-drag saddle with all my gear except bow. WE stepps are stowed in backpack. i’m not sure i like that plan which requires me to remove pack, unload steps, sling steps and pack then climb. Thinking my goal is to walk to a tree and climb immediately

What dimentions did you go with? Sit drag is about 7 1/2 wide and seems a little narrow for the butt.

It’s a sit drag with a belt, moly loops and 1/4” amsteel bridge.

First sit, went deeper faster and lighter than ever. Saw a doe 50yds out. Felt secure and comfortable and i am very cautious with heights. Learned i suck at getting the wild edge steps back into the bag on the way down in the dark. Basically dumped half of them on a pile on the ground when i was 2 steps from being on the ground. Probably scared off half a mile worth of deer. Learning the ropes but overall good experience.

I have not dumped my whole bag of steps, but I was about as close as you can get. What I did was I put two holes right beside the zipper and ran paracord through it, knotted it, and use it as a zipper stop. I did not want the bag opening all the way because if it does you're going to dump your steps. I have it set up for about two and a half to three inches above the bottom. If I was going to do it over again I might just run some thread around the zipper has a zipper stop. Another use for the ez stitcher.
