Maybe my grip is stronger than most, but I can loop a rope through a carabiner and grip it and apply my weight and it wont slip. The force on the burried part isnt nearly what you think. Maybe Bassboy can chime in here on the mechanics of it, but if you follow the recommended method and buried length, I think you will be fine.
I agree. I won't use something after stressing it to near failure. I also think if the rope is spliced with the
recommended lengths of bury there's nothing to worry about, but the kid in me wants to try and destroy it just to see what happens lol.
I also agree, it would just build my confidence if it broke somewhere others than my splice.
