I’m looking at getting into saddle hunting next year and have been doing some research on splicing an eye on some climbing rope I have. Is there anyone on here that will splice eyes on tethers and lineman ropes? If not, any advice on where I can send it?

I spliced my ropes but not all ropes are spliceable some ropes have their covers webbing to tight for hand spliced my hand spliced on my tether rope!Screenshot_20191216-024920_Gallery.jpg

I also splice my own now but I have had both Wesspur and Treestuff splice for me in the past. Wesspur has a sister division, Iron Street Splicing, that does real nice work. They will even do sewn eye splices on your rope if it is not spliceable using a traditional bury.

Thanks for the input so far. I will contact them, but might try to do it myself. I have watched a lot of YouTube videos and it seems pretty straight forward.

I’m using a 11.4mm 7/16 blue water rope

I spliced my own this year... its pretty straightforward but it is a pita. I had difficulty feeding the fid through and the rope staying in the fid... guys online make it look easy. I would suggest the wire fid where you pull the splice instead of the normal fid that you push the splice. At least for smaller diameter tighter woven ropes.

Since I bought the line from another store no one is willing to sew or splice, due to liability.

I have done some figure 8’s and might go that route instead. I would still like to try splicing myself, just to give it a try

What brand of rope you bought could you post a close up picture of the rope?

I'm sorry to tell you but this rope isn't a doubled braided rope it's made with strands inner core and not braided cord you will be wasting your time trying to eye splice this rope just make the eye loop with a figure 8 nut and call it the day!

Thank you for the heads up torvic. When I order my saddle I might get a tether rope and just use this one as my lineman’s rope.
