I decided to start off 2019 by learning a new climbing method, so srt it is!!
Went out and did up a lower than hunting height set, just high enough for a small climb/rap. Everything went pretty smoothly up and down.
Need some help/input on what you guys do to manage all the cordage?! Not necessarily the rope but paracord for retrieval, throw line etc. Thanks!
Happy New Year y’all!!

What’s your typical hunting height and then how many feet paracord and throw line?

I just started this system also. So I will follow along, probably ask a few questions also. I started at low levels also. Real smooth system. Need allot of practice.

My typical hunting height is 20-24'. For the paracord retrieval line I use 30' and for presets it is usually 50-60'. 150' of throw line came with the bag I bought so I cut it into a 60' and 90' section. I will be using the 60' primarily with the 90' in my pack if needed. For me, the thumb to pinky for the throw line was too small. I ended up buying a 6" yo yo hand reel for the 60' section and am really pleased with it. Like mentioned above, I use the thumb to pinky fig 8 for the paracord retrieval line as well.

I use a small plastic spool with a handle to manage my pull up/retrieval paracord. I attach this directly to a loop on the saddle. This is the only thing I leave attached to my saddle. I need to make sure it's with me for rope retrieval.
When climbing it just unspools as needed and before I get down I attach the keychain carabiner to my pull down rope and lower my bow using the plastic handle positioned between the string and cable.

I guess it is. I have two of them floating around here. I bought paracord on them for pull up rope back in the treestand days. Just goes to show it sometimes pays to be a hoarder.

Edit: Thanks for pointing out the kite string holder similarity. I've been trying to find something similar on line and that was the keyword I needed.

You like the yo yo reel eh? Does throw line pay out ok off that? Or do you strip some off before you chuck it?

It works amazingly well. I set it on the ground and only need to strip off enough for the throw. It is designed to feed out like and pretty cool how effective it is. Only modification I did was cut a slash in the one side to hold the end of the throw line in place. It does take up more room than a figure 8 loop but since I can't easily do that with my thumb and pinky, it works well enough.
