Stacked outdoors climbing sticks

They pretty much eliminate the risk of metal on metal contact but are a little heavy and bulkier than most sticks of the same length. There’s a thread here on them when they first came out but not much since. I was able to hold one at saddlepalooza that John was using to demo the jx3.

I think DIY Outdoors is using them but I haven’t seen him do a video yet.

I just got them in late last week. I bought the four pack directly from their site. I tried them out last evening on an ornamental cherry on my back property line. No tree damage!!! Way easier and faster to get up the tree IMHO than my WEI Stepps. I also think they are quieter too. So far I really like them, they are probably the easiest steps I have used yet. They are decently lightweight and have a easy to see carrier. The metal buckle on the straps can be somewhat noisy if it hits the step but if you are careful and take your time, you can be pretty stealthy with them.

I plan on either coating the buckles with stealthstrips' buckle covers or just something DIY. Not sure yet. The steps overall are somewhat bulky but a couple of features I do like are that the edges of the steps are beveled off so you can grab them and they are not sharp. I also like that the standoffs keep your feet far enough away from the tree and the steps are actually laterally wide enough that you could use it as a leaning platform if you wanted. Strap management with all steps is somewhat of a learning curve but each end is folded over/sewn to allow for easy and silent hookup to the step itself. I felt very safe on these steps. They snug down on the tree nicely and quietly. This tree was relatively smooth barked but even so, step slide was pretty minimal as you snugged them down or simply stepped on them. Once on them, very solid. Although I have not tried this yet, I do believe there are enough slots/holes through the steps where you could loop an aider around if you didn't want the bulk of carrying so many sticks to your set up location.
