State Specific Proposed Legislation Section idea

Good Morning All,

After reading That Wild Country by Mark Kenyon I've immersed myself in my local state political actions when it comes to conservation. Specifically for deer hunting and public land use. What are your thoughts on creating a whole section in the forums for each state and their actions and laws proposed? For example, if you hunt Missouri, did you know a law is being considered to eliminate the funding for the "Share the Harvest" program as well as removing the incentive pay for reporting poaching? There's also a bill being voted on this November to give the Missouri politicians veto action for anything the MDC plans to do.

I think this would be beneficial to many of us. Of course rules would need to be in place to not allow party political bashing.

I'd be interested in this. Agreed that ground rules would need to be set because this could turn ugly quick.

BHA used to be a great resource (the Michigan chapter) as far as keeping members apprised of state legislation on many issues, but within the last year their communication has dropped significantly.

Your states BHA chapter might be better about it though. Something to look into. Or even other conservation groups operating locally/in-state.

Seems like even though i'm subscribed to MIDNR's emails I don't get much news about actual legislation from them.

What if there was something up for vote, or a bill that is proposed, it could be posted but not open for discussion. It might be a good way to just call attention to changes that could affect hunting and fishing in a positive or negative manner. Especially for some of us cave dwellers who are out of touch.

You have to draw the line somewhere and Scott made it easy with a no politics rule. It sucks until you go on another site and there is a political post that is 20 pages long and spreading like a cancer to all the
members. Usually it starts over something that doesn’t even matter.
