Does the jig just stretch the string or what? I have made a lot of recurve strings and would like to get setup for making compound strings and cables when needed because those jokers are stupid expensive.

its for laying out twisting stretching and serving on . its made like baker jigs, look them up on youtube, lots of info on youtube on how to make strings

I made a simple diy string jig from a post on Archery talk. It works really well and I need to make another one for my bow and one for my son's. Just running out of time.

It stretches the string and allows you to do everything to properly make a string.

Do you have pictures or a link to the archery talk post?

Here is part 1 of a YouTube link. This guy is one of the main posters to the thread. It had been going for like 10 years and a ton of info there.

Perfect! I'm going to read through and watch this. I just need a jig for re serving the string and cables.
You could use this to make your strings as well if wanted. It is a really simple process and your quality would be pretty close to the best ones out there. Way better than zebra strings.

I'll have to give it shot!

Here is my setup, no welding required. I have since replaced the nut behind the thrust washer with a handle nut so I don't need a wrench to get up to #350
