I’m using a steel seat now as a platform but wondering if this is going to be strong enough when coupled withan aluminum tube. I’ll use strong enough bolts and components but has anyone had their seat bend/break? I’m about 300 lbs after lunch usually.

Well, cast aluminum isn't going to bend, it will snap. If the seat were meant to support 300lbs., it would probably be built as heavily as the platform is. That is built to support 300 lbs. Myself there's no way I would use it but that's your decision to make.

I'd be weary of that if it were me up there. If your 300lbs, by the time you add gear and clothes your gonna really be bending the capacity of that seat.

I would not go that route! I’m on the upper limits of most gear, 300lbs on a seat is a different kinda torque than walking a seat & introducing a bunch of side pressure.
