Would a suspension relief strap work how would it work with a TREE SADDLE. I will tell you what happened to me i was using the one stick method and climbing down the tree. I went to far down i could reach the bottom of my climbing stick but i couldn't pull my self up so hanging for 20 minutes. The way got down was i able to push my climbing stick up witch loosen it then i was able to bring my climbing stick back down.

Sir if you were hanging for 20 minutes you need to go to the Emergency Room immediately and have them check your blood toxicity.
Suspension trauma is caused when people wearing a harness are hanging ( usually climbers) and loose circulation in their legs, the blood becomes toxic and then when the blood begins to circulate it poisons the body.

The purpose and design of a hunting saddle is to provide a safe and secure way to hang from a tree for an indeterminate length of time in relative comfort and high degree of safety, while having maneuverability and control to hunt and perform other tasks. Suspension relief isn't something that would be needed. Suspension relief straps are a hack to give you back limited control and maneuverability while you're danglng from your back in a full body fall arrest harness.

Basically don't fall. If you do e.g. screw up a climb like you mentioned - you have better self-rescue abikity than a suspension strap )and you need to plan for this). Also a lineman's belt would eork for this purpose (as well as a tool for emergency ascent/descent).

It's more useful to think about self-rescue in general, and not grt to the point of suspension releif.

Not sure what you are wanting to use the suspension relief strap for, you can hang all day in a saddle with no problem. Maybe you could girth hitch it to the tree and then use it to take weight off and move the tether down to get your stick?

I assumed he was talking about using it with a saddle in which case Suspension Trauma is a non issue

Good advice above. To expand, if you’re dangling from your tether, you could take out your LM and girth hitch to the tree. Fashion a foot loop and step into it to gain some height or relieve pressure.

I carry an extra webbing loop for various things including an impromptu foot loop.

Id say this happens more w lock ons, with a climber you can move the stand hopefully to get back in. Although I have never tried it & hope I dont ever. Mike

Also, having a couple of whoopie slings made of amsteel that you can easily get it is nice. My gear hanger is one, my spare lineman is one, and I keep another in my pack for giggles. Each one is an instant aider. They weigh nothing and take up very little room in your pack.
