Swing seat with pictures

What is the weight of this stand?

Hey Jeff thanks for the information regarding the hard seat. I've been looking to build or find one similar to this to reduce hip pinch. I don't trust myself from a safety standpoint so I think I'll utilize my trophyline treesaddle for extra contact point.

I know you were saying in one of your post of trying to make a more comfortable seat have you tried putting a cushion on the wooden seat?

I have one that has some closed cell foam glued to the base, That stand is made from 3/4" plywood.
The one that I used last year was 1/2" plywood and had no padding. I brought a piece of foam from a garden center for kneeling and it worked well. Really though, you don't need padding unless you are planning on a multiple hour sit, or if it is cold.

I'll probably used my newest sewn saddle this year first, then one of my hard based saddles if I need to be more comfortable.

In truth, I was just informed this week that I have a spinal surgery planned for 13 September, I think this entire hunting season is shot...
Not very happy, but hoping for a decent outcome post surgery. To make matters worse, I have NEVER shot my hunting recurve as well as I have been shooting it.

Oh man that stinks. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you'll be able to get the late season in.

The procedure is called a TLIF, it fuses my L4-L5 with some hardware. I'm out for the season.
Maybe I need to buy a 20 ga or maybe even a 410 and head out there with some slugs in the late season instead of launching arrows this year?

Not sure how I missed this. That's a bummer! But look at it as you are sacrificing hunting time this year to get your body in better shape for future hunting  Best of luck!

It's all good, thanks for the well wishes.
True, I will miss the season, but look at it this way - I'll have an entire 'season' to devote to reading every post on this forum!

And I suspect you will at least be able to be active in your workshop working on ideas before you're in a tree again too lol

Crossbow from a comfy seat in a blind???

If any one is looking into the Tree Swing seat, it is often called a "Onehair" Tree Seat. The advantage to these is that they are hard. Make it just wide enough to not pinch your hips. I spent many hours in one before getting my NewTribe. I backed it up with a climbing harness. Works great. Not as mobile on the tree as a proper Harness Saddle but you can turn fully sideways on the tree in it.

I used webbing stirrups for my feet. No platform. Because the front of the seat sticks out and holds you off of the tree, it is easy to rest.
