I would contact your local wildlife officer/ Dnr. If he’s legitimate I’m sure that would be enough to curb his ignorance if they came knocking. Maybe you could as well see your antlers/cape and document the condition it’s in for if it does get pulled to court you have some weight to work with if he choses to destroy them.
Not to hijack this thread , but maybe the mods could make a list section of well known and good taxidermist by state that we could all collectively help to build? I my self have now dealt with 2 bad taxidermist. Each time paid in full up front or a few weeks after I dropped them off to help motivate and keep help ease their cost to produce. Quality of work , time frame , and honesty were all major issues. It seems to be getting increasingly harder to find reputable taxidermist.
