Tether with Sewn Loop?

I've been using a Field and Stream rope style tree strap as a tether that incorporates an overhand on a bight to create the main loop. I recently considered switching to a Guide Gear tree rope that I have in the garage that incorporates a sewn loop protected by heat shrink. Which do you think is stronger/safer? (...and don't answer a spliced loop, ha)

I think they are both probably fine. I think a splice is preferred because it doesn't lose any strength while knots can reduce the overall strength of the rope, I'm not sure about the sewn eye's but they may be the only option with certain ropes that aren't splice-able.

Sewn loop is stronger than a knot but both would be fine for what you are using them for.

I don't think so, but I wasn't able to find out in some quick searching. Found a vid of a guy DIY'n the sewn eye. Not sure I trust myself that much, a splice is one thing you know if it' works when it's done, sewn eye, I'm not sure.

It’s seems the sewn eye is all that can be used on a lot of these static ropes.
Can someone list the ropes that can be spliced with a eye by DIY?
I am having trouble researching this. It seems some of the ones I was looking at, like Samson Predator, are very difficult to splice as DIY. Maybe I should start a different thread, don’t want to side track yours.

Sewn eyes are extremely strong and perfectly safe. I wouldn't do one myself but if you have the company you order your rope from do it it should be fine. In the case of the Rope you already have it will be okay. I like the idea of a sewn eye over a Spice eye because you have more room for your ropeman to operate on a lineman's belt without the Bulge from the bury. On a tree tether it wouldn't matter either way.

Wesspur web site tells you what rope is sliceable and what isn't. From what I have seen most ropes are hard to splice. Yale Bandit seems to be the easy one to splice and you can only find it on one site because it is not made any more. https://www.arborist.com/product/R180123-80/Yale-Bandit-11-mm-Climbing-Rope.html?cid=

I just researched this and by the time you buy the rope and the fids your not far off of the price to just have it spliced for you. Then factor in your time and I just decided to pay to have it done even though I really wanted to splice it myself.
