So my buddy and I just got back from our first out of state hunting trip. We went to Ohio for 7 days. He killed a monster (monster to us) of a deer and I missed one that was bigger. He killed his on Thursday and sat with me on Saturday to try and film my hunt (last day of hunting for us). The biggest buck I have ever seen in person made an appearance and I messed it all up. My rest wasn’t working for some reason, my release was sticking, forgot my arm sleeve in the truck. If it could go wrong for me it did. I had him at 26yds when I went to release my string hit my jacket and threw the arrow off. He grunted him all the back in to 44 yards but couldn’t get another shot because it was to thick. Even though I missed him it was one of the best trips I have been on for hunting. I want to give flinginairos a big shout out for helping me with my decision on where to go. We knew we wanted to go to Ohio but didn’t know where and through messaging him figured it out and started cyber scouting from that point. I messaged him to the point I don’t think he wanted to reply anymore lol. I will be going back going to try and go to fill my tag but not sure I can for two reasons one I am positive I can’t get a deer out of those mountains by myself two not sure I can get the time to make another 8 hour trip up there. With saying that I’m going to try to make that time! His deer ended up weighing 254lbs 10pt the one I missed was a 10pt bigger tines and heavier that his. In the vidieo when mine steps out you can hear him say” Chris that is a tank it’s bigger than mine you better not miss him”. Then you can clearly hear me say chase shut up let me focus lol! We had a blast although hunting in 14 degree with 24mph winds was not fun it was a great trip. For anyone debating on going out of state my recommendation is do it! It took us two hard days of scouting to find sign we walked 13.8 miles in those mountains to find our first glimpse of hope. Then we hunted them! We pushed back a little more ever hunt depending on where the deer where coming from till we were in the bedroom. He made his count I messed mine up. That’s hunting and that’s why we do it! Till next time the zaleski Forest put a beating on us but I’ll be back for another run at it shortly!
