Hey not sure if I’ve missed anyone showing this mod but it’s working great.

I let out “hopefully” a little more line than I need to get the weight over the limb or crotch. Then toss and once the weight gets over can gradually let out all of the slack needed to grab the line. Tie onto to your rope and wind back up as you go.

Think this will save me some untangling time!

I use that exact same spool as my pull up rope. I attach it to the back of the saddle using a carabiner. As I climb there's just enough resistance that the string only feeds out the distance I climb. Works great.

Edit: I've been looking for a couple more spools, thanks for the link!

I might need another and try that. I needed $2 more for an order to get free shipping a few months and picked it up. It’s been in the bottom of my tub since.

Been using a chaulk line reel for advancing my climbing line while in the tree when rec climbing. Now of course you are limited to short pitches and limited by how much line you can get on the reel but I would imagine you could get 40 ft of the right diameter line.
