Transitioning from sticks to platform

I have not yet decided what sticks I want to use to climb, (Hawk Heliums or Beast sticks) but I like the ring of steps style option for the platform. I need some help with how you guys/gals transition from your last stick to your platform. Do you attach your platform close to the last step on your stick and just rely on your linemans belt or do you hang something a little higher to use as a hand hold to pull yourself up to your platform that you could then also use to hang gear or assist with starting to climb down? What distance do you leave between the top of your last step and your platform? Also are there any videos showing how this is done? Thanks

I use the wild edge stepps. I like to put my platform right above (6-8 inches) my second to last step and off to the side. Then my highest step (chest height when standing on platform) acts as an extra hand hold while climbing onto the platform. I then hook some gear to it (bow hanger, range finder, grunt call...etc.) you could use a screw in step to serve the same purpose.
