I am looking at buying a saddle, used would fine, but I have also looked at buying something new. Unfortunately I am a little pressed for time, due to the extended delivery times. Should I pull the trigger on a new saddle, so that I have one for opening day (October 1st in Indiana), or should I hope to find a used one that fits me, or should I wait for the trophyline that is coming out?

I'd say get one on order asap and then keep an eye out for a used one. Can always resell and get your money back. While looking for a used one, start building a DIY version so you'll at least have something in case you don't get one in time.

the Mn Season starts on Sept 15, i ordered a Kite from NewTribe / Aerohunter hoping it will get here before then and i'm also watching the classifieds for used ones myself too...

Ultimately, you have to make your own decision, and to each his own. My only advice is consider your options and decision carefully. Try not to get caught up in stressing over having the perfect saddle by your bow opener. Odds are, unless you actually get to try different saddles out, or just "get lucky" in your choice, you will consider switching to something else before too long anyway o_O. Worst case scenario, you start the season using your previous hunting method while waiting on your first saddle. At least you're hunting!

Like @dblomberg4 mentions, stay on the look out for what's available, and like @DanO said, you can pretty much guarantee you can sale whatever saddle you buy now on the site later.

Good luck!

@Andry534 I'm with @DanO. Put your saddle order in now. Then pick up a RCH, a section of rope, two carabiners, and some accessory cord on Amazon. That stuff will be at your house in 2 days and you can begin your journey to find the ever-elusive "perfect climbing method."

I guess no one will recommend DIY when you have so many choices of commercially available saddles. So if you buy commercial there are options while you wait.
To add to that It’s hard to make a recommendation because we don’t know your level of DIY abilities.
What are you using as a safety harness now? Does it have lineman loops? If it does all you need is a rope, prussic cord, a couple of carabiners and some fleece or sit drag. You could get the feel of it. Do you use climbing sticks already? If you do your half way there.

Thanks for all the input from everyone. I am actually working on a rock climbing harness and a sit drag combination. I don’t have much hope for it though, hopefully it proves me wrong.. I think it will likely be my opening day hang and hunt, as I doubt I’ll order anything in time for it to be shipped.

What size are you? I can sell you a TrophyLine to use and then you can always keep it or resale it after season if you’d want

I have a used Trophy Line that I haven’t hunted from yet. I’ve only used it in the yard. I really like it so far. Just worried about the weight. I’m also working on a DIY sit drag because I’m also waiting to see the new TL before purchasing a lighter saddle.

Try calling Aerohunter. They might be able to get you into a kestrel or kite fairly easy. These are older models and they might be in stock. Their customer service is very good. If they can't, start looking for used to get you going. Waiting for a new model that's coming out is ok if you have a saddle now.

By the looks of the new TL I’d say it’s worth the wait. And less weight then the originals. I always get a little laugh out of saddle weights, we all came from climbers, ladders, lock ons etc. I barely notice my Leather TL when I’m wearing it. I’m sure more info is coming soon!

Depends on your money situation. But like mentioned, I’d order something new and look for used. I’m super excited for the Trophyline release and they say it’ll be in our hands by season. Idk how bad flex has held up Aero and not sure if Tethrd has caught up some like they promised. But it’s best to consider ordering something soon.
