Vacation days?

I hate going by cameras, as I think they're nothing more than a glimpse of what's happening in the woods. But it was amazing how consistent results were across all 6 of my cell cams last year. Last couple of days of October, then Nov1-6 it absolutely exploded with daytime pictures of the shooters. All the cams again were the same. It then died off a bit, and came back strong Nov 14th to the 20th

I shoot for around Halloween and the second week of November which is typically gun season here. This year I’ll probably hunt the early season more due to the second little one coming late October.

I work 4 ten hour days so i have long weekends when i am not on trouble call so i hunt a lot but when it starts getting good usually around Thanksgiving on some off the places i hunt and it carries on through Christmas I burn some vacation time then mixing in some of the sick days i have If i dont use em i lose em so that aint happpening

I get a week off every other week so around late october or early nov when the deer activity ramps up, i take the middle week off most years. I usually hunt through the week so I don’t have any company in the woods. Enjoy having my Saturdays with family and football.

5 days this year, Illinois.

PA will be Saturdays and after work as it seems worth the effort. Im rather selective with what I will hunt anymore. I spent years of being miserable in the woods with everything from dripping sweat hot and bugs to below freezing and howling wind. Theres enough opportunities for me that I dont need to hunt like that. Ive got nothing left to prove to myself at this point, when the moment comes im over it for the day I dont hesitate for a second to go home. If I wake up and I dont feel like going I dont. Probably keeps me from killing deer at times, dont care.

I do get an above average amount of vacation time, plus my schedule is flexible.

I plan on changing my schedule from 6-3 during the season so I can hunt afternoons when I'm not on paid time off.

To stretch my vacation days I always intermix holidays with company holidays. So for example, I take the entire week of Thanksgiving but only burn 3 of my vacation days. During Christmas I get at least 2 full weeks but only burn 5 of my vacation time.

Since I've switched to hunting public land I'm not so amped for the peak rut as I am for the pre and post rut, so that is where I spend a majority of my time.

The reason I'm not so amped for the peak is here in Va you have to follow firearm rules which restricts you to horn hunting the entire season except for the last day or two. Plus the woods are full of hunters which puts the deer in someone else's county.
