I have a Whalen 3 finger hooker release 7/8 hole with pinwheel insert

Looks like I could end up punching myself in the back of the head with that release
 
Not if you keep pressure on the thumb peg until your ready to shot :). You can set the hook deeper for a harder pull to fire or less hook for a hotter release

I know that all of the pros use them and they really help to perfect form. But I like to snatch the trigger with my booger hook.
