Found three of these in a bag in my shed, think I never used them.
Think there Ameristeps, but did not see any serial numbers on them.

Make sure they dont have "8" stamped on the date code, those were the recalls.

All the black strap ones I've seen are prerecall, but check thoroughly. Good find!
 
Where would it be marked, I looked for serial number and did not see anything, will take another look.
Right at the "L" bend where the tread meets the riser. It has a number (larger and that's what your looking for) surrounded by a circle of smaller numbers and an arrow. Some dont have any date stamp. As far as I know only the ones marked with an 8 are recall steps.

After looking at ur pic where ur holding the step it's either where your thumb is or what looks to be ur middle finger.
