what prusiks are people using on 8mm sterling oplux?

My 11.4 mm samson predator lineman's and tether are getting too heavy and bulky.

I don't use a ropeman, preferring a prusik (preferably a sewed eye-eye) with a tender. So, I'm guessing I'd need a 5 mm or 6 mm prusik cord for the oplux.

Any prusik cord someone has used with 8mm oplux to good effect?

I've used pmi 5.6 and 6mm accessory cord in the past. Right now I'm using sterling 6mm trc, both in prusik configuration. Right now I'm trying out a distel hitch. Working well.

I use the trc in 6mm for the oplux. I use it as a distel and scwabisch with a tender. Works great and don't have to worry about mechanical failure.

Is this on a lineman's or tether? I'd want to use it on both. On lineman's with a tender.

I've used 5.5mm Beal Cordelette and Sterling 6mm TRC on my OpLux, currently using the 6mm TRC. I use an non tended distel on my tether and a tended distel on my LB. Works great.

Sold My R.1 and went back to a prusik. Ordered a couple sewn prusiks but have trouble getting the right length for a good fit so I,ve just tied my own.

I notice that most people are using a distel or non-prusik hitch with the 6mm TRC. Is that a personal preference thing or does a prusik not work very well with that cord? I would likely want to run a prusik.

For your oplux, sterling recommends the 6mm TRC...reason is because it is paired well together and it works. You put a prussic on and load it as a saddle hunter and it will bite so hard that it is difficult to get it to release or to adjust. The distel and scwabisch friction hitches work so well after being loaded that it just makes sense to use them. Try the distel hitch with a tender and you won't be disappointed.

Yeah, I've noticed most of the shorter hitch loops are specific to arborists and are usually 8mm or larger in diameter. The thinner ones are all crazy long. I've considered having Rope Logic or someone else sew me up a set because double eye hitch cords are very sleek and convenient (and you don't have to check knots, just glance at the stitching).
