What to do with the tag end...

Any saddle hunters out there have a slick method for dealing with the tag end of the rope on wild edge steps? The 2-3 feet of tag end hanging from the steps bugs the hell out of me, especially when down-climbing with an aider. Thanks.

I feed it back through the stepp and either let it hang out the other side if the tag end is short, or then feed it back up through the gap between the stepp and the rope on the other side and then wedge it between the rope and the tree. Keeps it to the side out of the way of the stepp.

Here are a couple pictures. I’m left handed so I tie off the stepp on the left side. This is a fairly small tree so I first fed it through to the right side then back to the left side

If you tie the knot so that it cinches down on a looped tag end instead of just running the single tag end it reduces the tag length by half. That doesnt completely cut out the tag end but it is more manageable
