Which of these Saddles for a Big Guy

I have never used a saddle and don't know anyone that use's one but I am intrigued since most of my hunting is hang and hunts and hauling around 30 lbs. in sticks and stands is getting old.

I am 55 and a big guy at 6'2 and 280lbs. with bow and my pack pushing 300lbs. I'm confident that all of the saddles out there will cover my weight but assume some are better for bigger guys. With my limited research I have looked at Tethrd's site and think the Eberhart model may be a good fit. Then I have read about the DIY Sit Drag saddle. It would save some money and if I didn't like saddle hunting i could use a rock harness for my treestands.

What is the consensus on the TrophyLine Covert Lite saddle? It seems bigger guys have indicated the Latitude method 2 xl, Trophyline and the Cruzr XC most often in my reading.

I assume I can use my XOP safety line as a tether? If so I can get the Trophyline saddle with a Kong Duck ascender and a HME strap with 3 accessory hooks to hang my bow and accessories. I would use my Muddy Stagger steps as both my steps and the top is flat and largish I think I could use it as a platform and then a couple screw in steps on the side. If the steps don't work out I would get a Hawk Helium platform. Without the platform all in would be less than $300.

Curious what more experienced saddle hunters would suggest for a big beginner?

Thanks in advance!

I’m 6’1” 270. I think a diy fleece saddle is most comfortable and cost effective. My favorite option is my treehopper recon though.

Not sure what a fleece saddle is. I have heard of the Sit Drag homemade saddle.

I am not tall, but heavy. 285lbs. Flat Branch Outdoors Solitude 2.0 is amazing. Several 6-7 hr sits in it. I ordered it over the summer, so it came in plenty of time, you wont be able to get it quick right now.

I am a short stocky guy, with 50" waist and two knees replaced. I bought a Treehopper Recon sling and used it a lot, with comfort. Few years ago, I upgraded by contacting John at Tactisaddle, he has a formula and builds the saddle to you. It is my go to and love it better. I have hunted for 6 hours few times last year and this year in it and never an issue.
