I want a 12" to 14" slick rick. Something I cam pack away easy on my meat shelf of my mystery ranch pintler for pack in hunts. I really wanted a 12" to be ultra packable, but am thinking the 14" is a good compromise.

Currently I use a modified wingman which is 17".

Here’s my current set up, not perfect but does pretty good.
It’s right at 12”

Any stability issues, kicking out, shin banging? Seems like lists of folks mention those specific things.

I’ve had no issues with either of those.
I feel like it’s easier to get a good bite on the tree because it’s easier to find a section of the tree that’s flat and parallel to itself if that makes sense.

I get that completely. What size boots do you wear? I'm a bigger fella, 6'1" 250Lb. Just doesn't seem like a lot of guys give positive feedback on shorter sticks

6’ 195 so not small but not big. I wear 10-11.
I’m sure people have legit issues but in my three years running it I’ve had no problems

Why is your rope tied off so high on the stick? I'd be tying it off under the cleat if it was me. Someone else on here had a 1 stick set up like that and it kicked out because of that.

No good reason, I used to have that knot centered on either side of the cleat. I can move it down.

My 1-stick is 12”. Love it. Super light, packable and easy to maneuver. No kick out issues for me, personally.

I have a similar stick I'm going to try, but my scout is on bottom with no top step at all. Are you planning on using a platform too?

I’ve considered doing something like that.
I’m thinking about basically building a mini shikar type stick like yours but with just a step on the bottom to climb then using my predator.

I made a 13" stick with an EWO LP on top that I call "The Willow" :p

I haven't hunted from it yet, but I have climbed it several times.

I'm planning on using a platform too. Hopefully I can get them at close to the same height to give a little bit more options in the tree. I may move to a versa button instead of the cam first on my mini shikar, I think other options get tighter

Mine is 12" and I have never had an issue with stability or kicking out. I have a UP on the top of mine and there is a little bit of shin contact some of the time depending on foot position. The contact does not bother me or create a safety issue and I like the compactness of the 12" and the way it rides under my Treehouse 38.

I did for a couple seasons and did not like the compactness while climbing. I moved to the Tethrd ONE stick and love it. Just gives me more room to hold onto the top stick while transferring. 11" vs 17 I think. WAY better!

I'd have to measure my Rebel Fab 1-stick. It's pretty short, I carry it horizontally at the bottom of a Camelbak pack. Cam cleat. No issues with kickouts.

ETA: as pre prior posts these are 15" sticks.
