Ive been looking into one day camo cowboy suede in asat camo and also looking at predator brand asat camo outer wear. Im not looking for anything super warm as im on the coast in Virginia it stays relatively warm for most of the season. Have yall used this stuff? What would yall recommend company wise or even material wise?

Depends on your style of hunting. I'll admit I own 100% Sitka layers and outer layers. For me personally its who I chose a years ago and have stuck with that brand. I have multiple pieces depending on HOW I am hunting. everyone is different right. Chevy vs. Ford. etc.

For my build the Sitka brand fits me well. Quality has not been an issue for me at this point and I expect failure because lets face it, its clothing stitched together like other clothing.

I sit in a tree some days and other days I am on the move. Some days I am in PA and another day I could be in CO. I have clothing that fits my needs and my style of hunting.

I have a mixture of Sitka, First Lite, Under Armour, Natural Gear and Kuiu. The pieces from each were bought with specific application in mind and all of it has functioned as well as I could have hoped for. I do not have a full kit of any one brand.

New kid on the block, American made, I've got no experience

Day One makes great stuff. Predator isn’t even close to the quality. If ASAT is the priority, Day One would be my top choice by far.

GameHide is my go-to outer layering for anything colder than Oct 1-15th. Pricing is great and quality is better.

Anyone have the Pneuma pants with integrated removable knee pads?

Best bang for the buck is midwayusa brand stuff. Order a thin jacket or something and check it out, if you want.

Go to midwayusa and their clothes section and select the brand as midwayusa. It's basically modeled after under armour but might be even better made at half the price. It's synthetic with pockets here and there, standard stuff but made well.

I only spend big money on rain wear, goose down insulation, boots, and some specialty accessories (stormy kromer rancher hat, etc). I won't spend over 50 on a pair of cargo pants for non-freezing temps.

PS...forgot to add that midwayusa brand stuff goes on crazy sale in the summer....i've gotten 3 pocket synthetic jackets for like $30

I have to agree with Sitka. I fought it for awhile and then bought some stuff off the classifieds. Holy crap it works! I had on another jacket and was chilly. I took that one off an put on my thinner sitka jacket to layer. As soon as I put it on I was instantly warmer and did not put the other brands outer layer on. That cold day in the saddle made a believer out of me. I still can't afford full price, but I will grab some not full price stuff quickly.

Also, kuiu attack pants.... You're welcome!

I will be trying North Mountain Ghillie/Leafy camo suits. They are light weight and breathable. I have used many different patterns and manufacturers products for a number of years. I guess some are better than others, but I find it inconvenient to have to have several sets for different temperatures/weather and types of foliage. I think if I get the above camo in the green and brown patterns, I will have all seasons covered except for maybe snow. It will also allow me to wear anything I want as needed layers. Time will tell. I think camo clothing is like fishing lures, it's marketed to catch hunters. Fred Bear did pretty well with a flannel shirt and wide brimmed hat. There is probably a reason why snipers that spend lots of time trying to be concealed and get close for a shot, wear ghillie suits and not Mossy Oak. The wind and lack of movement can be your best friend, if you use them to your advantage.

I'm a First Lite guy to the bone...LOVE their merino stuff. It's pricey, for sure, but for me up in PA where I get colder now that I'm older, it can't be beat. Wet or dry, that wool keeps me warm, and in the early season, keeps me cool too!

I love the ASAT pattern, & was lucky enough to buy a bunch of First Lite stuff while they still carried it...there's plenty of used First Lite ASAT still around, though. Their own patterns seem to work also, I've had good experiences using them.

Natural Gear (original pattern) is my 2nd choice-sure wish they'd make some of their stuff in merino wool-I can't stay warm for some reason using synthetics.

I love my Predator fleece hoodie. I'm like you I'm in Alabama it doesn't get too cold. But I layer under it and use it for my outer layer. It's 3 years old and going strong.

IMO Sitka has got it nailed down for treestand hunters. If you're moving around a lot, hunting from the ground/stalking and doing a bunch of shorter sits than maybe kuiu is a better fit.
I'm not a big believer in the cameo pattern takes all.

@Camelcluch , @Grant1775 , @Coathanger15 - Day One was sold at some point over the last year. The new owner has changed things quite a bit, and many of the items and features that used to make Day One great are no longer available.

Features such as windblocker or insulation? No longer available.
Bibs, weather-check waist pants, pullovers, gloves, hooded pullover, or a hooded zip up parka? No longer offered. Etc.
The ability to custom-order pocket location, collar height, etc. is also gone.

For tops, the only offerings now are an unlined vest in cowboy suede or an unlined parka, in either cowboy suede or fleece.
For bottoms, the only offerings now are unlined pants in cowboy suede or fleece.

Basically, you can only buy the unlined shells now. No customization, no wind blocker only, no insulation with windblocker, etc.

The new owner indicated he "might be" adding a zip-in liner at some point down the road, but he wasn't sure when I talked to him last fall. (Edit to add: the new owner mentioned that supply chain issues was making it hard to obtain wind blocker last year, but even if wind blocker was available, he wasn't planning to offer it as an option then or any time in the future.)

(Price is definitely NOT a deciding factor for me when purchasing clothing, but a sense of reasonableness must be considered. In that regards, the prices on the Day One shell-only, unlined vests went up about 130%, about 165% for the unlined parka, and 145% for the unlined pants. Their crusher hat went up almost 150%. For unlined items that are available now, $154 for a vest, $224 for a parka, or $194 for pants is a bit rich.)

What really indicated to me their new ownership was $ focused was a new product offering, their double beanie, at $89, and their double-knit neck gaiter, at $100. These new "merino wool and acrylic fiber" hats and neck gaiters are 2-4X the cost of offerings from other, high-priced hunting brands. Seems a bit of a stretch. (Even I can't imagine the almighty @enkriss - he of the raccoon shiny object trap syndrome - springing $90 on a knit beanie or neck gaiter....)

Long way to say that Day One has changed ownership and their product offerings. I am not able to speak to the quality, since they no longer have products with features or options I am interested in purchasing.

@Maverick1 nailed it. I have an old Day One windblock lined parka and it's great - quiet, windproof, good pockets, sleeve cinches.
Makes me wish I bought more from them when they were at the top of their game.
