You all keep getting my creative juices flowing. I ordered sone WE steps and decided to make a Whoopie Sling Aider similar to one demonstrated on their website. That said I had some 1/4" Amsteel and created my locked brummel with a 3" loop with 8" bury for the load bearing carabiner. The sling itself is 12' long.

Question. How far down from the bury to I start the adjustable porting of the sling and how long does the bury have to be?

Thanks in advance for the help!

You can start the constriction part just an inch or two below the brummel bury. I'd give it a good 12"-15" just to be safe. That will still leave you plenty of room for an adjustable foot loop.

And the great part about the adjustable side is you can test it first. Jump on it and if it doesn't budge, you're good. After you're happy with it, do a back splice on your tail end so it doesn't pull back through.

I actually did this too but for my climbing sticks and I ran the Amstel through a piece of rubber tubing to keep the foot loop open, worked well for my needs.

That's what I went with. Thanks! I watched your video on splicing. I created another loop on the bottom to keep it from pulling back through. Gonna give it a go tomorrow. Im

I also ran it through a piece of tubular webbing when I made my brummel to protect the Amstel from when I put the loop around the top of my stick, I use this as a movable aider. The rubber tubing I got from rural king I think it’s 3/8” diameter if I’m not mistaken.

Awesome. I may have to pull mine back apart and put some tubing on it as well. That way I can use it with my WE steps or my muddy sticks. Thanks
