Wild edge stepps bag options

IMO I Made the best option for carry but didn't like the Stepps so I sold them and have no pic. I sewed a shoulder bag that was loose fit w/a 2" wide shoulder belt, adjustable length. The steps stacked in thru a strap holder like the original bag. All the straps shoved in on top. When climbing I let all of them hang down thus preventing tangles and pull out one at a time.

This bag isn't much different than what's been described. It's made for ten but I doubt Ill ever carry that many. Might try to mod one or make my own.

It's funny to see the differences in how WE steps are accepted. Some seem to absolutely hate them. I'm finding them pretty decent. It does take practice but not hard to master. I'm going the step w/ knaider route and have no complaints. Sticks may be slightly quicker, but packability and being able to hang a single step make them more versatile imo.

Yeah, I liked the WE stepps in idea, struggled with getting the knot tension right and modified mine to use amsteel whoopsie daisies and liked that better but never trusted my linemans belt and had some knee pain from that knaider I was using. Switched to 2TC and find that to be the answer for me

Thanks! That’s exactly what I’m looking for. Do you remember where you got it or did you make it?

Wanna sell it? :)
The holster came with the steps when I bought them used 4 seasons ago. I sent the guy a message to see where he got it from, I'll let you know if I get a response.
Id be open to selling my whole step setup, the holster is the only way I have to carry them so I don't want to get rid of it alone

I've been looking myself so if you find someone, have them make two. The Genesis 3d gripper looks to be the next best thing. I actually wouldn't mind the bag so much if it weren't so tight.
The Genesis gripper works great.

I've been using stepps exclusively since 2017 with 1 or 2 short stints of just trying new climbing sticks. Nothing beats them for an all around package. They are the best compromise of light weight/packable/safe that is out there.

Are they the lightest? No, I carry 7 so it's 7 pounds. But they pack tight and fit in the shelf of my pop up so that counters that. Once you get the hang of putting them on it's second nature. I actually don't even think about it because I couldn't tell you how I do the knot anymore, I just do it. I have had a couple slip on me before but they just slide a little and you never go very far. That's usually on soft barked trees where they bit in so well. The way I do it with a knaider I always have a step above me to hold on to to pull myself up. Anyways I've praised them on here for years but I'll continue to do so :)

How have your steps held up since 2107? I’ve seen some that have bent over time, or it looks like anyway. But I don’t know if that’s because they've been set in trees wrong, held too much weight or it’s just a natural thing to have happen eventually.

I've Had Them For Several Yrs and Never Bent One. I Think if You Make Sure They Are Set Sorta Level W/Both Legs Biting in, They May Last Forever. I've Bought Them Three Different Times and Sold, Back and Forth W/Sticks, Always Looking For Bigger and Better!

I've never bent one and I've been pretty much using the same 7-8 since the beginning. Over the years I've picked up another 4-5 sets on the classifieds here to make sure I have enough to last me until I die, but so far still going strong on the first set!

I have two sets of 5 with original ropes and one set of 10 with amsteel. The $100 set that just sold in the classifieds almost had me....lol.

Lol... yea if you watch over time you can pick them up for some really good deals.

Makes sense. That’s what I try to do when I set them as well.

Yep I know that back and forth story. I think this is my 4th or 5th set of steps for the same reasons. Gonna hang onto these though and not continue the trend.

It definitely takes some practice to learn how to set them. Once you figure it out though you just know the feel of when you're good to cam it over and when you need to slack up the rope or tighten it. Same thing with different barks. I know a hard oak isn't going to give much and I can get away with it being looser but a soft tree I better make it cam as tight as possible cause its going to settle into the bark.
