Hi guys... just curious what kind of experience people have with strapping / unstrapping wild edge stepps in cold weather with gloves on. Does it add a huge level of difficulty?

Not really. Everything you do with gloves on can be a little more difficult but, I have never felt the need to take off my gloves to get a step off of the tree. I don't wear real heavy gloves though.

I have 1/8th amsteel on mine which is pretty small. I think glove choice is key. It’s pretty difficult with large insulated gloves but I typically use Mechanix gloves or the simple cheap thin “winter” gloves from Walmart. A thinner glove helps a lot but so does muscle memory and repitition. I hunted with mine 30 times this year and was definitely a lot faster the last time than the first few.

I use mechanix gloves every stepp I set. I never have an issue but I’m going slow anyway. I couldn’t imagine ripping my knuckles up and cold wet hands on a tree climbing anymore.

Gloves make that experience materially better for me. It’s been my experience that if the loss in dexterity slows you down on your climb, you’re probably going too fast anyway.
