I am going to be gettign the Aero Hunter Evolution next month. I want to know if you guys think a Hunter Saftey System Tree strap, measures 7ft long witha prussik knot and a Muddy outdoors linemans rope would be safe to use?

I want to save the $100 if I can, but will not think twice about paying the $399 for the full monty to come home to my family.

Great site and thank you in advance.

I would not recommend using that setup. I don't think those tree straps are made for long term tension, I believe they are made for one time use really.

If you are looking to save a little dough I think you would be better off going somewhere like REI and having them help you build one out of ropes that are meant for that type of use. There are 2 types, static and dynamic. Even the guys at New Tribe would probably tell you the types of ropes and what you need to do. I haven't looked into it really so I can't help much more.

Welcome to the site! :D

Personally I would stay away from something like that. Going to REI you will want to go to the climbing section and you can buy a 10 Foot piece of static line in the 7/16" or 11mm these are aroud $0.80/FT. You will want locking carabiners and some basic understanding of knots/hitches (The clove hitch is a great adjustable hitch to avoid sliping under tension). The other option is to use ascenders and belay devices. These are a little expensive but not terriable. I would advise using "runners" and a locing Carabiner or repeling ring to attach to the tree.

Just go to REI and explain to someone in the climbing section what you are planning to do. They are usually pretty informed and will help you with the mechanics and equipment selection.
