I don’t have any milkweed where I live. What is another viable option? As of right now I have the smoke and I’m not a big fan of it. I am open to any and all suggestions

I pull a piece of cotton from one of the dozens of cotton fields on my way to my stand location...

Milkweed is the best. Powders are ok. For a passive and constant indicator, I have some thread on a clip that I attach wherever I can as I set up. It’s not near as informative as milkweed, but I like it. I have one hanging from my arrow as well. 12 inches long with the end screwed between my broadhead and shaft.

A scent free soap bubble mixture, cat tail fuzz, feathers from an old goose down anything. The breast feathers from a road killed bird? I also have a "wind feather". A small downy feather on the end of a fine thread 12-14 inches long that is attached to an alligator clip that I store in a film canister. It'll give you the wind but it doesn't let you know what it's doing out away from your position.

A member graciously sent me a small bag of rabbit fur this year and it has worked wonderfully so far. Letting two or three hairs fly at a time has a remarkably similar effect to milkweed.

I had the same problem with not having any milkweed lying around, but came up with a fun solution. I've started keeping the down feathers from duck hunting in a small baggie or pill bottle. Works just like milkweed and really fun to collect!
