I really do love my job, but..... it sure does get in the way of my deer huntin. Managed to swap tomorrow night so i can make the evening hunt, I just hate missing opening morning.

Anybody else missing out on the opener because you gotta work?

I think the guy that said “find a job you love to do and you will never work a day in your life” was unemployed, that was the job he loved to do. I love what I do, but I hate work if that makes any sense. When I was a child my favorite thing to do was fish. I wanted to grow up to be a professional fisherman..... By the time I was 15 I was living the dream, fishing on charter boats as a deckhand all summer long. By the time I was 17 and graduated high school, I was traveling the Caribbean marlin fishing in tournaments living the dream. After years of fishing for a living it turned into a job. After I got burnt out on my lifelong passion it was 10 years or more before I ever even went fishing again. I now enjoy fishing, but not like I did before I did it for a living. With that being said..... we have to remember work is work. If work were fun they would sell tickets instead of paying us. I try to adjust my attitude from time to time by simply making a conscious effort change my perspective when work really sucks. Just remember there is someone out there who would love to have one of my “bad” days. Work is just what we do it is not what defines us.

Yes sir. But that's okay. The bow season for me is a journey. The rifle season is the sprint.

Well being I took off the entire first week of bow season just to go hunting and the simple fact that my Captain STRONGLY encouraged it, I’m not complaining by any means.

On another note my unit got totaled In the hurricane and I was in a old Vic for a while but now am in a brand new unit until they get me my official new unit and I can not complain one bit!!

Thanks for your service. Blue lives matter All lives matter

I’m blessed in that I can pretty much take leave any time I want. Urban archery opened here September 1st but it’s been too hot. It’s misery looking at deer pic, knowing they’re out there but it’s too hot. Sigh.

I’m trying to figure out how to burn up 5 weeks of vacation before the end of the year! What a tough situation to be in. LOL

You have a great perspective. I'm in the process of an "attitude adjustment" myself. We are in the middle of a buyout, however, I still have a job, and one that compensates me quite well at that. Some stuff they are doing isn't very pleasing, but I guess I just need to look at the bright side.

Thats tough to hear. Some years ago, I got into some stupid moronic debt. Got two jobs. Worked 70+ hrs every week 7 days a week. Missed virtually all of archery, and hunted 2 days of rifle. Missed it so bad. Got free of all that debt, and swore I'd never get a job that made me miss out on important things in my life. Now, I'm out of work every single day by 11am, and get to hunt virtually every single day from beginning of Oct to Jan. Life's too short to work it all away.

Exactly the way i feel. I definitely am fortunate with my schedule because one week I’m off Wednesday and Thursday. And the next I’m off mon Tuesday and Friday Saturday Sunday. So i have two days off the first and 5 days off the second. Really works out good
