Would a Pfaff 230 work for sewing a few saddles?

I am looking around FBM and Craigslist for a machine capable of sewing a few saddles, such as a Wraptor with cordura and mollie.
Anyone familiar with a Pfaff 230 that could give an opinion on how well it would work for this?
Thanks

I am not aware of any domestic machine, other than a singer 15-91, that would be anywhere near adequate for a saddle build.

try searching on fbmp for Juki 562, 563, consew 206, consew 226. All triple feeds and you may be able to pick up a deal.

I’d shy away from it. My wife had an old Pfaff and I fried it trying to sew some doubled up fleece. It was not a 230 model but when I called a repair shop about it they didn’t want anything to do with Pfaff as apparently the company doesn’t exist anymore and aftermarket or competitor parts do not fit. Even if it is strong enough to sew, you may soon run into a break down that requires an entire machine change.

Thanks for the tips... But the Juki's and Consews are more expensive than the cost of a commercial saddle, so not the route i want to take. I did find a Singer 15-91 thats in my price range, but it is quite a distance from me.
I found a Singer 201 that's closer... anyone with experience with them? Both have the potted motor... not sure the amperage though

Where are you located? I have 2 15-91 machines. They are no longer being used by me since I have consew 206 and Juki 563 industrials. I am in Lehigh Valley, PA (just north of Easton).

Just saw your comment. I'm in MN, but i just picked up a machine last night so no more need (i hope). Thanks

I ended up buying an old used Union Special 68100 industrial straight stitch machine last night. it came with the bench, knee lever thingy for the presser foot, a massive clutch motor, 2 swing arm lights and other goodies for $50. The last owner made custom gear for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in northern MN. Looks like this will accommodate 140/22 needles so i'm pretty excited.

I use a Pfaff 130 for thin stuff and A Sailrite LTZ for a walking foot machine. There are many industrial sewing machines out there.
