My son badly wants a bow for Christmas; I’m unclear why but he’d like to be like me so I’ll hold on to that for a bit if I can. He’s 7 and he asked for it from Santa and I’m good with that so I don’t want to take him to a shop to get fit. If I’m willing to pay up does anyone have good ideas that will fit him now and give adjustment range for draw length and poundage?

So much for upgrading mine for no reason.

Apologies if this was posted before and I did a bad search.

I have seen bows from PSE, bear, diamond, and some others with lots of adjustment. My son is 7 as well. I picked up one of those dragon 8 bows on a special. He can shoot it. It's a little heavier and bigger than the bear royal I got. Cosmetic I like the royal better. But both work. Lots of good options out there. Just gotta see if you can get one in time or at a local dealer.

Got my son the diamond atomic at that age and have no complaints. Lightweight but flings an arrow well. Fully adjustable at home with no press. I reccomend it. He is now 10 and shoots a mission hammr.

We have 3 Mission Radik's. Easy to adjust without the need for a press and will be able to grow with them as they age.

I’ve not had good experiences with Diamond quality but they’re no doubt designed for adjustability over time. Santa brought my daughter a recurve two years ago, because I wanted her to be “classically trained” so to speak, but she won’t be able to hunt with it at such a low poundage. When it comes time for her first hunting bow, I wouldn’t turn my nose up at the offerings from Bear, PSE, or Elite.

My daughter is 7, I couldn't justify going right to a 2-300 dollar bow like the diamond atomic or mission radic, but they are regularly mentioned as the best kids bow. I went somewhat toy route for this year and got her a bear scout it's a 30 dollar kids bow, but can still stick the arrows in a hay bale, and comes in purple her favorite color

If she uses it a lot this year I'll get her one of those two "real" bows next year or later.

Alternatively, people say if you buy one of those nice kid bows, apparently the used resale market is pretty good so you're not out a lot of money if the interest fades and you sell it used.

The elite ember is the best kids bow available. We highly recommend them to all our kids on the shooting team. Now some have others. For the use into adulthood ember gets the thumbs up. My boy shoots a prime nexus 4 for target and nexus 2 for hunting. They are great bows but not designed for smaller kids. 24 inch draw is min and 40lb draw weight.

Went with the diamond atomic, will update after he gets it in his paws. I thought hard about spending up to the elite ember too, just couldn’t quite justify the price tag but that’s on me wanting to make sure he keeps an interest, not the quality or price. Hopefully he’ll like it so much I regret my decision.
There’s also still a less free spending part of myself who had to bale hay, get up at 5 to deliver papers, and work in hog barns to earn his money who thinks the boy needs to remember to have an attitude of gratitude.

The diamond is a good set up for kids. My big gripe is the set up can be a pita. The set screws in the cams always seem to land under the limbs and other things. I replaced the rest with a biscuit and added a small stabilizer so it looks like a full rig. I also changed the sight after my son damaged the original. He has been shooting it for two years and it had done well for him.
Now after two years, I think he is left eye dominant so I’ll be starting all over.
