New Aerohunter saddle

You have no idea the grief and criticism I took - when I compared the two Aerohunters and concluded the kestrel was superior to the kite IMO - I knew better than to compare the mantis against it. People are funny about their particulars.

But to answer your question - I see nothing new about their new saddle that fixes the issues I had with the original model. The mantis addressed my input way back when that I gave to Aerohunter reps right here on this site. They chose to go another direction with their saddle and have obviously attracted their following. I am cool with that. The Tether'd boys just think more like I do when it comes to a hunting saddle ..... and apparently like John E. does?

Which is better - lol, whose on first :)

Don't let the haters stop you from creating content. I enjoy your videos.

I will be making new videos soon. But I am focusing on what I use and my hunting techniques rather than comparing them to items I do not use. After all, the best of these are just opinions.

I failed last year. I did a scouting video series last year. made 5 videos I think on a planned scouting attempt in a totally new area. I killed my 2nd buck in the very spot I predicted I would kill a buck, and I did it with 1 sit. However, I failed to make a longer video and show the results (I did capture the kill in a video) but never went back and showed people exactly where I had set up (prepped tree right in the first funnel) and how I accessed. The exact location was a scrape i had found in that funnel. I had 3 to 4 areas picked out and only hunted that 1 time.

I believe there is a lot to be desired in the current offerings of scouting type videos. its so hard to track throughout a year and to tie all the pieces together. I also self film and have ZERO editing capability. I didn't even carryall the filming gear into the woods last year hunting, just my phone. God willing, I will be able to do more this year. but my primary focus is getting my daughter who is returning to bowhunting after 20 years, a decent buck or doe.

I have thought of getting some filming equipment and doing a start to finish year, but
1. I feel unqualified
2. I would also need a new computer to handle video editing
3. I really don’t want to burn spots by posting footage from aerials and on the ground.

Maybe one of these days I will pick a WMA and dedicate a season to it so I’m not concerned burning that bridge with posting publicly.

Looks like I actually made about 14 videos in that series. Video # 1 shows the actual bed the buck came from. Video 3 (see below) shows the scrape, the actual tree I selected and killed him from. And then the final video below shows him on the ground.

Not me, at least not any longer. I have found my perfect out of the box saddle, could not be any happier with the journey and the result.

Yup we are all different. My favourite is the Jx3 and then the kestrel
I only like the mantis for packability and weight
That said you are a better hunter than me if that means anything
Ernie and Greg are super guys and I hope lots of hunters prefer their saddles

I think likely Red squirrel prefers the Kestrel and many others on this site.
I think @huck prefers the trophy line

I love your videos and agree with most of what you have to say so keep making them and do all the comparing you want

I got my email about bridge options. Has anyone had much experience with Yale blaze? I’m nervous about the color but like the idea of it being lighter than predator. I may also switch to webbing just to try something new.

Unless you plan to use the saddle for turkeys too, the orange color will make zero difference. Even then it likely is not enough to matter.

It will be fine. I am probably going to use Amsteel blaze orange for my next bridge

Please don’t do that. It’s easy enough to find comparable features from another area on topo maps and aerials. There’s no need to show actual locations on public land. You may not be burning YOUR spot if you aren’t planning on returning, but you will be burning SOMEONE’S spot.

There is a buckle in it. Or just a self tightening knot.

No buckle. No knot. It’s a tri bar/tri glide on a webbing bridge. It’s either sewn to each bridging loop or sewn to one and a loop on the other side with a carabiner.

Well it's saying from my tracking # that I have a flex sitting on my front step at my house right now! Bad news is I'm at work and still got another 4 plus hours to go!
