XOP Climber seat as climber and platform?

Well after several climbs, I am thinking about dumbing the xop hand climber idea. It does not seem to be an easy climbing method. At least for me. I am always a sweaty mess by the time I get to 18ft and it is very loud on pine trees. Readjusting the belt is also cumbersome. I use a rch and it may be more comfortable in a kestrel or mantis to free hang? Also, I have had the thing slip down while I was adjusting my tether and I almost got my hand caught between tether and tree with my body weight cinching it down. Not good. This method might also be easier with a strap style tether like in the video rather than my rope and ropeman? My only other option is the summit mod but I am not sure I understand how the pins work.

I didn’t realize there was a ball detent in the pins used on here. Either way I went with a different type of pin. This is made from 1” Aluminum I got at lowes. Will this be safe to use or should I look at steel as Fayettekong did?

Sorry I’m new here and just found this old thread. Does anyone know where I can get just the Lone Wolf traction belt and the cam locking brackets ? I want to make a “gizmo” but would rather not buy a complete climber and disassemble it for parts. Thanks

They used to sell them on the lone wolf or XOP website.

If you don’t necesarilly want the trac belt etc, I believe you can get summit cables and then use hardware that is readily available to use them.

Alternatively you could find the people here that have done the summit cable mod and see if they’d sell the parts you’re asking about.

I have the parts from a failed LWHC. Just the actually platform has a flaw where the infamous bolt mod was done. It actually has still worked for me on about 6 hunts at 250lbs. Any way, I have the belt, arms and the arm bolts.
