Im wondering if the pins are going to rattle around a bit, and if the crimp on the cable will be able to rattle around in the tube between the pins.

Well that’s why FayetteKong put a pin in front and behind crimp. But I’m going to try it both ways. If one makes noise I’ll use two but think it’s overkill. Have to wait and see.

Stopped at the store, checked out a new summit. The trigger is to reduce rattle. Not really needed.

Just got my hand climber. 2 questions
I noticed that one of the cross beams of the platform sticks up farther than rest of the platform. Has anyone found this to be annoying while hunting? If so, would it be safe to flip the square tubes around so the flush bottom of the platform would then be top where feet would go? Also, what does this mean in the image?

If the arrows are showing at all tree is too big! They want a certain amount of belt in the cam system is the reason so just make sure they are not visible and your good. I take white paint pen and put dots just before arrow and makes seeing your limit easier in low light. Also I don’t beleive seat can be flipped because the stops for 1” tubing are cast into platform.

Oh ya makes sense. I was thinking the arrow deal was for wear and tear or something. I was like this thing looks brand new without a scratch but I see the arrow haha. I got about 3 hours of sleep after a wedding last night.

So I just did my first attempt with this method. The guys made it look pretty easy in the videos. It took me 40 mins to go about 16ft haha. Is this something a designated hunting saddle should be used for? I am using a rock climbing harness. Ended up not being able to lift with my feet or at least not enough to make it worth it. I let the rch do its thing and just pulled the hand climber up by tether and climbing into it. Good little work out, nice sweat going. Now i am wonder how im gonna get down haha. Might be 2019 by the time I do.

I use a Kite saddle and with one gun season of experience I can say it is doable but definitely more physical exertion than sticks/steps. You'll get faster, but it is a tiring method. I would stop from time to time to let my heart settle down and avoid working up a sweat.

You have to remind yourself that you saved exertion by only hauling a 4ish lb stand/climbing device.

Tradeofff is a little more vigorous climb up the tree.

Ya it was definitely easier haulin in. With me losing interest in fumbling with sticks with aider and camming platform, and now trying this, I cant help but compare carrying in a heavier climber stand which takes more effort but easier to set up and more comfortable to sit and/or saddle which has seemed to be a struggle to set up and is not as pleasant to hunt from. Im gonna run this for the rest of season and see what method comes next.

So has someone compared the summit cable mod to the crappy LW/XOP band on the hand climber yet as far as ease of climbing? I just practiced again and it seems that the teeth on the band catch on pine trees pretty good. I also noticed a twist in the bands at the tube that cause the band to turn slightly white when stretched. Kinda sketchy? Cant post the pics.

I haven't compared the summit cable mod, but I do use a 12" clear tubing on the belt that prevents those teeth from hanging up on bark.

That sounds like a good idea but wouldnt that limit you on your tree selection?

No. I don't think so. You don't even really notice that it's there. Just does its job.

I was at cabelas today and found a cool strap that I wil be using for my foot loop. Its a sea to summit gear strap thats three feet long and has a g hook. I put it on, cinched it down and climbed about 20 feet in the yard today. worked pretty good. Tomorrow afternoon will be my first hunt using the climber seat as my climber and platform!
