XOP Climber seat as climber and platform?

One would cut the summit in order to keep the same locking system summit uses rather than diy pins.

Why not buy the aluminum, have a shop weld on an end cap, then drill & dremel the summit slot shape? That's how I'd do it.

And for the “S” shaped trigger mechanism?

Not sure what that is? My summit is pre aluminum and nothing fancy about it. Just a slot and a thin piece of metal that you rotate to cover opening. More of a secondary safety than a necessary item.

Im sorry if this has been asked... By the way, this option looks SWEET!

What is stopping the bar from rotating too far? That is, when the seat is cammed down, is the traction belt the only thing stopping it from going any further? For example, the predator platform has a bolt that adjust to stop the platform from rotating further. What is the equivalent on this method?

Also, has anyone had any luck using a small climbing stick, like an ultra cut down helium in order to use a "stepping stone" when you need to go around branches? Or is it just better to hang in the saddle and reattach the lone wolf to the tree?

I envision bringing such a stick, or maybe a couple folding cranfords that I can leave in place once I go around the branch, and therefore on the way down they are there waiting for me. Thoughts?

Thank you.

The belt is the only thing that keeps the platform from rotating down. If you took the belt, the platform could just rotate on the bar.

As of right now I dont think there is any need for a solution to stop the bar like on the predator platform. You'll always keep the belt around the tree so you'll be good there.

You might be able to do that with a mini stick. I've been practicing just hanging in the yard, and it is getting better. Otherwise I just put my tether above the branch and climb up to the branch with the platform. That would work most cases for me

I think a single aider would be needed to go around a branch. Yes a stick or step would work, but added weight. An aider would make it easier to get back up on the platform.

Ya my 2015 summit titan has a trigger like deal that you squeeze to release the cable.

Interesting. Does that keep the cable from moving into the tube similar to the second pin on the diy mod?

I think if a guy set it up the same as how it is with the lone wolf tubing you'd be alright. Hard part would be cutting the tubbing off the summit $$$$$

You need to measure the inside of the square tubing and see if the steel crimps will clear the bolt head you connect it to the platform with.
I’ve already thought of this but couldn’t find a cheap Summit and would not cut mine up even though I never plan on using it again.
@FayetteKong has the mod figured out and is what I’m going to do to both of mine when I get home.

The mod looks like it will do the ticket. I just like the way the trigger mechanism works on the summit. Not sure if the chrimp would pass by that bolt head. Maybe if a guy were to use a carriage bolt.

That’s something you’ll just have to figure out. I’ve had a viper an open shot and still own a razor all Summits. But I’ve also had several climbers that use a locking pin. The FayetteKong mod will have much more adjustment for smaller or larger trees hence the number of holes on the mod arms. The Summit arms will only adjust at one spot. You will just have to tie the pins off to the platform in case you drop them. But I’ve been trying to figure a good way to do this for a while and I really like his mod.

What is that top part of the open shot look like without the seat pad? Could that possibly be used like a lonewolf or xop hand climber tops?

No I thought it would but it’s mostly just a cushion. I had an old buddy with me this year that had one that we bought them together at the same time when they first came out but I lost mine somewhere. But you could weld just a couple pieces of flat stock on them and they would work fine. The bad thing about them is the way they adjust doesn’t leave for fine tuning or very small trees. The diy mod would.
Here’s one in the Everglades this summer.

you can’t get anywhere close to that small with the Summit arms.

Yes it is and there’s many places I hunt especially in the Cypress where they aren’t any bigger.
Sticks , WE Stepps won’t work maybe spurs.
I’m 20’ up right there and it’s not much bigger at the base.
