XOP Platform kits?

Are people using more than one per tree or is one enough to get all the possible shots?

ok, the insert was a huge sucess. here are some pictures. the question is whether or not its worth the extra cost to you guys. Piece cost another 5.70 after shipping from mcmaster. I wouldn't add anything for the extra time it takes to install these, but do you guys thing changing the price to $70 instead of $65 is fair? Also, it could just be an option if you want it or not.

oh and I should note, that assuming all of the pieces fit together the way I want them to, I will be ready to ship the first 20 this saturday or monday at the latest. The next 20 will be ready to go a week later. And I have already placed an order for another 40 pieces of the plate which is the long lead time item.

I have to modify the list of people to add more people to the list, and if all the pieces fit well, I will PM you all individually with paypal info and what I have on file for the number of pieces you wanted.

Honestly I don't know if it's necessary even if you don't fill the tube, but I like to overbuild stuff so it's stronger than needed. It's the conservative engineer in me.

Ernie, if it helps, I used an aluminum plate on my tube (I tack welded it on with a dc stick welder and rod made for aluminum) and my adjustment bolt is digging in pretty hard to the aluminum plate. Steel will hold up much better. But mainly posting to let you know that I would say it is necessary to use a plate. Im 214lbs. Ill post a pic when I get a chance.

Curious, guys using steel as plate, are you putting anything in between the steel and aluminum to minimize corrosion caused by the two dissimilar metals?

I haven't been following close enough to know what that piece is doing, but if you think its better, I'd pay the extra 5 bucks.

Its for the seat bolt hole...to keep the hole from wallowing out. It looks really good...definitely would go with that option. I may have to order one myself. Ernie, what size is it and what size did you drill the hole out to be? I do have a press at home.

It's a .252 x 1/2 x 1 1/4. Insert. I first drill the hole out to 15/32 using a step drill, then use a .4990 chucking reamer to make the final hole.

I chose stainless over carbon to prevent rust on the tube. Carbon steel is safer for galvanic corrosion, but from what I have read, if the aluminum surface area is large compared to the stainess. ie stainless hardware on aluminum sheets, the risk of corrosion is small. The opposite, aluminum hardware on stainless sheet is considered unsafe.

Here is an article explaining the galvanic corrosion chart.
